Here it is folks! The OFFICIAL trailer is out the Beacon DVD! The Beacon DVD is due out for release on March 27th… that’s a little less than two months away. Incase you forgot, it will be coming out on BluRay as well. Trailer looks fabulous, just an odd fact – the confetti dropped on night two, not night one! Enjoy…
Greg Koch sits down with Joe Bonamassa at NAMM and they talk guitars! Another great interview from this year’s NAMM show. Thanks to Wildwood Guitars for the interview.
At the Seymour Duncan booth at NAMM this past weekend, Joe got to play two blues tunes with the one and only Seymour Duncan. Not did he only jam with him, but we also learned that Seymour Duncan is releasing signature pickups. The Joe Bonamassa Signature Pickups from Seymour Duncan will be a Guitar Center near you in the soon to come future. Above we have Joe Bonamassa on the left and Seymour on the right. You can also see Len Bonamassa in the background. Joe jammed out on his Gibson, while Seymour played his Fender Telecaster.
Joe Bonamassa Signature Seymour Duncan Pickups
The Joe Bonamassa Signature dual-humbucker set accurately replicates the P.A.F. pickups in Joe’s beloved 1959 sunburst Les Paul®. Their rich, dynamic, and nuanced voice will appeal to all tone connoisseurs who cherish the passion and power of the original humbucker. Wound on the historic Leesona machine that created humbuckers for Gibson back in the ‘50s and ‘60s, the set features an Alnico 2 magnet in the neck pickup and Alnico 3 in the bridge. Period-correct butyrate bobbins, lightly antiqued nickel covers, wooden spacer, and retro-style “Bonamassa” P.A.F. stickers heighten the vintage vibe. Only 1,959 Custom Shop sets will be sold. Each will be hand signed by Seymour Duncan and Joe Bonamassa and include a special USB flash drive with video interviews, special features, and more.
Joe was at NAMM this past weekend. While at the Gibson booth, he unveiled the new signature Paul Kossoff Les Paul. About two years ago, Joe got to play Paul’s original 59’ Les Paul. From that moment on, Joe has been part of the design process. In the video, Joe compares the signature LP to the real deal, they are dead on! What an honor for Joe to be part of such an amazing experience.
If you’re in LA tonight for NAMM, do not miss this! Head on over to the House of Blues where Eric Johnson will be playing. Sitting in with Eric tonight will be Joe Bonamassa. Not sure on how many songs Joe will play, but I imagine it will be several. Joe and Eric last got together in late 2011 while Joe toured through Texas! This is a last minute surprise, posted on Joe’s Facebook moments ago. Hope you can make it.
Joe and Rock Candy Funk Party played at the Baked Potato last night. Two sold out crowds were in attendance. Also spotted in the audience was Steve Perry (Journey), Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), and Dave Amato (REO Speedwagon).
Rock Candy Funk Party consists of Arlan Schierbaum (Keys), Ron DeJesus (guitar), Mike Merritt (Bass), Joe Bonamassa (Guitar), and Tal Bergman (Drums). Joe’s good friend Beth Hart came out for a few numbers last night. They played an eleven minute version of I’d Rather Go Blind (Etta James) with Beth Hart on vocals.. just killer!
They also played Crossroads, which is a great song. Last time we heard Joe do this song was when he had Eric Johnson join him on stage in Texas late 2011. Beth Hart also came up during the first set to sing For My Friend. Were you there last night? Comment on this post and share you experience.. I will post more YouTube videos as they come up. Many thanks to Rick Beck for recording last night. Until next time…
Joe Bonamassa and John Hiatt performing together at the Beacon Theater back in November. Joe’s upcoming DVD, Live at The Beacon is due for release on March 27th on DVD and BluRay. Joe’s right hand man, Kevin Shirley, posted the picture above today on his Facebook page. Notice how Kevin also mentions BluRay! Both BluRay and DVD share the same release date. Kevin has just finished editing the live footage in Toronto. The final audio mix will be done this weekend. Make sure you’re following him on Facebook.
Yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of Joe’s first live DVD shoot, A New Day Yesterday Live. The DVD was shot on December 21, 2001 at Piere’s in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A lot has changed since then, this was Joe’s only show where he played with women dancing on stage. He’s moved on from the bar scene, he no longer drives around in an astro van and trailer. Even though Joe did not have a big production team like he does now back then, Joe’s sound was still dead on. Some of you who have been Joe fans for years will agree. It was not rare to see Joe standing behind the soundboard mixing the sound to just the way he likes it. Hope everyone has a great holiday season and I know I’m looking forward to the next ten years of Joe’s career!
Well, the guitar is not literally on fire… Joe never ceases to amaze me with this song. It just continues to get better and better. The video above is from a recent show in Bakersfield, CA. If this song is played any faster, you would literally see the smoke coming from his guitar. Enjoy this version of Woke Up Dreaming in HD!
One of Joe’s only Christmas Songs, Merry Christmas Baby. The song is now available for the holiday season as a free download from Joe’s website. All you have to do is click here and sign up for Joe’s email list. You’ll be emailed a link where you can download the MP3. Enjoy!
