A Young Joe With B.B. King

Joe Bonamassa first opened for B.B King at age 11. In fact, he wrote an essay about it in school. His teacher at the time, didn’t believe Joe’s story about opening for B.B. King. He believed him the next day, when Joe’s teacher brought in a copy of the local newspaper and asked Joe to sign the front page.

He is pictured above with the King himself, B.B. King. This photo was probably taken when Joe was around the age of 12. On Joe’s Fender, you can see Mr. King’s autograph. In a documentary filmed several years later, B.B. King described Joe to be “One of a kind”.

That proved correctly today with Joe’s new album Dust Bowl starting off at #37 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart and #1 at the Billboard Blues Chart.
